SHINY NEW NPO, SHINY NEW WEBSITE!

This is a very exciting time for Open Sky. On April the 1st 2023 Open Sky Theatre became a National Portfolio Organisation. This means we’ve been selected by Arts Council England to be one of nine hundred or so organisations that receive regular public funding from the taxpayer via the Government over the next three years. This is a massive change for us and we feel both privileged and grateful to be on this very special list.

This has lots of practical benefits to us as an organisation. The first of which is that we’re combining our theatre work and our film work under one banner, simply Open Sky. We happy to say that we make digital theatre, physical theatre and film and all of it is now led by the same creative team. That creative team remains life and creative partners Claire Coaché and Lisle Turner as Artistic Director and Creative Director respectively but we’re both now employed full-time by the same company. That means we have a lot more time to make work, coming your way soon (so stay tuned.) Obviously if you want to work with us on a creative project in the commercial sector you can still hire us, as any extra revenue will be put to good use supporting Open Sky’s artistic endeavours.

So being a company fully committed to working in the digital sphere experiencing a refreshing change in direction we wanted to reflect that in our online identity. Our new website will tell you about who we are, what we do and what we believe in. You can see what shows are coming up next (be they live or digital) and you can also see an extensive selection of past productions. You can also find all our community commitments and policies that show you what we believe in and how we put that into practice.

For the first time in our careers we feel we’ve got site that really reflects who we are so we’re really chuffed. Thanks to Katie Rose Johnston for the strong visual design. There’s plenty to watch and read so please have a look around.
