“It was a joy to be asked back to make a piece of work inspired by the film. What most speaks to me about this story is what we stand to gain as a society with access to inclusive third spaces, and what is currently lost without them. Having grown up in a rural area myself, that pub is painfully familiar!Fiona Oakley (she/they)

  • The six frames follow our protagonist through key scenes of the film chosen to highlight the themes of: journey, friendship, romance, alcohol abuse, bigotry and a hostile home. Depicted in an illustrative style, the frames reference the storyboarding we underwent in the film’s preproduction stages. The colour palette is selected from the film’s dance scene, which features gold, pinks, purples and ultramarines.  I elected a textured monochrome approach to take advantage of the unique visual appeal of Risograph printmaking.
